A host of tech startups such as DotPe, Petpooja, and Google-backed Dunzo have been working with restaurants to help them diversify their food delivery business.

Zomato temporarily rolled out grocery delivery service last year when India was under lockdown and the demand for groceries had picked up.

Startups such as Urban Company, Paytm, and Byju’s have set up relief funds to help employees impacted by COVID-19.

Zomato reported a revenue of INR 1,367.65 crore (USD 183 million) for the period April 1 to Dec 31, 2020, while its losses in the same period stood at INR 684.15 crore.

Beginning April, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased exponentially resulting in an acute shortage of oxygen cylinders, beds, and medicines.

From a bird’s eye view, Zomato and Swiggy are quite similar, but they couldn’t be more different on closer inspection.

Zomato is looking to list itself in India and reportedly plans to raise USD 6 to 8 billion during IPO.

This comes barely a month after the ten-year-old firm announced closing a USD 660 million round at USD 3.9 billion valuation.
