CHINA BRIEF | Nanny-training company Haoyun Mama closes USD 7 million Series A round

The firm trains caretakers and recommend them to families that need their service.

Beijing-based Haoyun Mama, which provides a range of services revolving around baby care, has raised RMB 50 million (USD 7 million) from IDG Capital and We Capital in its Series A round, 36Kr reported on Sunday.

Haoyun Mama, which was founded in 2014, started as an agency to train baby caretakers, known as Yuesao or Yu’ersao, in China in its bricks-and-mortar classrooms, with its in-house developed standardized courses. The firm also connects trained caretakers to families that need their services and charges these service providers commission fees.

The firm’s training services have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the firm still managed to sign up more than 30,000 families in the four months after the outbreak in late January via its online channels. Haoyun Mama’s app and its WeChat mini program allows clients to seek and sign a caretaker.

The company has trained more than 200,000 caretakers since its launch, according to 36Kr.
