Gojek reveals new features for corporate clients to keep up with Grab

The decacorn will also test-drive an electric motorcycle fleet.

Indonesian ride-hailing and food delivery app Gojek on Thursday announced a slew of new services for its corporate clients in a move to catch up with its closest rival. As vaccinations have started in the country, the company now believes that the ride-hailing business will recover soon from the pandemic-induced slump.

Raditya Wibowo, chief transport officer, said that this year, Gojek will launch GoCorp in order to better manage the transport needs of corporates. Employees who order a motorbike or car usually have to advance the fee from their own pocket and then later apply for reimbursement.

“With GoCorp, the payment will be deducted from the company’s account. There’s no need for employees to go through the reimbursement process,” Wibowo said in a virtual press conference. Gojek is planning to include GoFood into the service in the future.

Wibowo added that the service will be rolled out as soon as possible this year, without giving an exact date. Its main competitor Grab already offers a similar product called Grab for Business which integrates transport, food delivery, and courier services for Indonesian corporations.

Gojek also finally launched GoTrip, an in-app map that displays Indonesia’s public transportation services and suggests the routes to take. Among the available means of transport are train, MRT, bus, and angkot, the public minivan. The feature had been quitely released to the public in mid-2020.

“With GoTransit, we hope that our users can check the fastest routes and manage their time better,” said Wibowo. There is also a new scheduling feature for transport orders so that people can book well in advance. Wibowo said that this is especially helpful for those who need transportation in the early morning.

Keeping it safe

Despite the arrival of the vaccines, Gojek will continue to strictly enforce its safety measures. The company provides masks and sanitizing stations for its driver-partners, and installed plastic separators in vehicles—motorcycles included—to minimize contact.

Gojek will also start testing fleets of electric motorbikes as part of its GoGreener initiative. The firm opted for motorbikes instead of cars as it’s the most used vehicle in the country. Earlier in September, it partnered with AI startup Jejak.in to add a carbon offset feature to the initiative.
