Xiaomi plans next high-end smartphone chip

Xiaomi is planning a new high-end smartphone chip but won’t adopt Apple’s yearly release model, vice president Xu Fei said. The company shipped one million units of the Xring O1, and estimates it will need ten million per release to break even over the next decade. While pursuing tighter integration with its HyperOS and AI suite, Xiaomi will keep sourcing chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek.
