GreaterHeat’s Accelerator-Asia Debuts Decentralized Enterprise Storage on Filecoin at Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023

The rise of decentralized cloud storage could help more Asian businesses thrive.

GreaterHeat, a Singapore-based Web3 infrastructure provider, has launched the Decentralized Storage Providers Accelerator-Asia (DSPA-Asia) at the recent Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023.

DSPA-Asia is a business accelerator program aimed at helping Asian Web3 storage providers learn how to use and scale data storage on Filecoin, a decentralized storage network used to store data. A key concept that storage providers will learn is maximizing the potential of Filecoin Plus — the program that incentivizes storage providers to store ‘useful’ data on the network.

The main highlight of this accelerator is the Asia Filecoin Bootcamp — a 6-month training program that provides professional support and services to become Filecoin Plus storage entities. Other benefits include access to state-of-the-art hardware and technical resources, along with the ability to network with top Web3 business contacts.

GreaterHeat is committed to providing data storage solutions in the decentralized Web3 ecosystem — which operates without the control of a single entity. The firm has previously assisted US, Canadian, and European companies with setting up decentralized Web3 cloud storage solutions on Filecoin.

The current issue with current Web2 solutions — like DropBox or Amazon Web Services — is that service providers control and own all of the data that is uploaded to their servers. Data is stored on the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), where users would need to either run an IPFS node or pay a provider to store data.

Filecoin provides a better alternative with its decentralized nature, as it is free from censorship and serves as a free marketplace for storage providers to offer their services to customers. This results in a more cost-effective method of storing, requesting, and transferring data. To date, Filecoin is host to 760 pebibytes (PiB) worth of data and boasts 26 million active transactions from organizations like UC Berkeley, The USC Shoah Foundation, and the University of Utah.

By leveraging Filecoin’s decentralized storage network, GreaterHeat is poised to become a major player in this ongoing revolution of decentralized storage solutions.
