The global market has stagnated

After five gloomy months, a sign of recovery in the world’s largest mobile phone market – last month, more than 36.5 million mobile phones were shipped in China, recording a 6.7% year-on-year growth, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).

More than 34.8 million mobile phones shipped last month were 4G smartphones, which accounted for 95.4% of all shipments in April. Domestic smartphone makers dominated with 92.9% market share, while foreign brands took about 7% of the market.

Whereas the US smartphone market is dominated by Apple with about 40% market share, the Chinese market sees predominantly Android-based phones. They account for 92.7% of all Chinese smartphone shipments.
