Alibaba Cloud unveiled two customized chips, the result of its cooperation with home appliance maker Midea, on its annual summit held in Beijing on Thursday, according to a report on China Daily’s Chinese website.
One chip will help Midea’s home appliances, such as an air conditioner, better connect to the internet, while the other will lower difficulties and costs in hardware design.
The two companies also rolled out an operating system that combines Midea’s SmartOS and Alibaba Cloud’s AliOS Things.
Alibaba Cloud sold a total of 200 million of its own IoT chips last year, said Zhang Jianfeng, the company’s president, earlier at the same summit,
