Back in June, our North American event, Collision, became a purely online conference. With only a few months of planning and preparation, we reorganised every aspect of our event to create an online equivalent. Some things were straightforward. Others less so. How do you bump into people online? How do you encourage group discussion between people oceans apart? Can we keep our hugely popular Q&As? These were the big problems we needed to solve.

As the curtain raised on June 23, we welcomed 32,000+ people to learn, network and exchange ideas from the comfort of their homes. Reports seem to agree that we pulled it off. How did we do it? Our software.

Now this software is being used to power our biggest event yet. Welcome to Web Summit 2020 – a 100,000-person tech conference, taking place completely online.

Since we’re only days away from the conference, we thought we’d give a little insight into how to make the most of our event apps.

How does it work? Web Summit will be a two-screen experience – the web app on your laptop or desktop, and the mobile app in your hand. The Web Summit mobile app is now live for you to download. You’ll be granted access to the web app when doors open next week.

Our mobile app is your lightweight assistant and event companion, helping you plan the event and do all your pre-conference networking. Use it to discover people and companies you want to meet, and to schedule talks, masterclasses and meetings. Download it now to create your profile, and to connect and chat with the 100,000+ investors, entrepreneurs and startups at Web Summit.

The web app is the best way to watch the 100+ hours of talks, interviews and keynotes from more than 800 speakers. It’s also the best way to network face-to-face and make meaningful connections. On the web app, you’ll find Mingle (three-minute speed networking sessions match-made by our algorithms) and Breakout (the place for small group discussions and masterclasses on particular topics).

If you’re on the move, you can still stream our five channels on the mobile app.Your step-by-step guide

  1. Once you have your ticket, download our mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Create your profile on the mobile app and you’re ready to go. Schedule meetings, bookmark unmissable talks and connect with attendees.
  3. Log in to the web app, which launches when the doors open for Web Summit.
  4. Join a breakout session, mingle with attendees from your industry and watch 100+ hours of content, all from your desktop.

So grab a cup of coffee, download the app on your phone and get a start on making connections before we raise the curtain on Web Summit 2020.
