The conference and exhibition will take place on May 6 and 7, with free admission for visitors.

This May, Shanghai’s Pudong district will host the founding edition of Tech Week Shanghai, an international technology event aimed at connecting global companies with China’s innovation ecosystem.

This inaugural edition will take place at Kerry Hotel Pudong (Shanghai), and will convene technology and innovation leaders for discussions on market access and industry collaboration.

The agenda covers cloud computing, cybersecurity, data center infrastructure, data governance, data services, enterprise digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.

The event will combine conference and exhibition components, with sessions designed for audiences seeking updates on technology trends and opportunities for cross-border collaboration, particularly between China and international markets.

Practical outcomes are a key focus. Attendees can look forward to networking opportunities, along with access to showcased solutions, forums for insight exchange, and potential partnership opportunities.

In its first run, the event is expected to offer opportunities for those seeking more direct access to the Chinese market, with some of the country’s most prominent individuals and businesses set to be present on site.

Confirmed exhibitors include technology giants Huawei and Baidu, along with Lingang Group, a state-owned developer and operator of industrial parks. Major telecom operators China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom will also participate, as well as domestic investors, such as CICC Capital.

On stage, visitors can expect to hear from senior figures from both the public and private sectors, across a sequence of keynotes, panels, and forums.

Yi Ma, vice chairman of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Shanghai, and Weijun Wang, secretary general of the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC), are among the figures scheduled to speak at Tech Week Shanghai, where they will discuss trade policy and business initiatives in Shanghai and across China.

International speakers include Jessica Low, CFO of SAP Malaysia, and Brendan Pat, chief privacy officer at Agoda. Additional participation from multinational companies such as Siemens and Honeywell is also expected.

Background

The launch of Tech Week Shanghai builds on an event series that spans multiple jurisdictions across Asia and Europe. This includes Tech Week Singapore, a long-running annual event in the city-state, as well as the Tech Show subseries in Europe, which covers London, Madrid, Paris, and Frankfurt.

Tech Week Shanghai, the second event in the series to be held in Asia, comes amid growing collaboration between China and Singapore. This follows a memorandum of understanding signed in January between the Singapore Tourism Board and CCPIT, focused on jointly promoting exhibitions in areas such as technology and innovation, while supporting enterprises in expanding cooperation and strengthening their global presence.

Tech Week Shanghai is designed as a bridge event, leading up to a flagship edition in China planned for 2027, which is slated to take place at a larger scale, according to the organizers.
